New test kit ordering guidelines for NYC private and charter schools

As the supply of free COVID-19 rapid test kits for schools moves from the City to the State, TeloPoint can help your school handle the transition

New government policies will change the way rapid test kits are distributed beginning in March. The current method of TeloPoint ordering test kits from the City of New York will continue through March 11th, 2021. After March 11th, the City of New York will no longer be handling the distribution of test kits. That responsibility will transfer to the State of New York. With this transfer comes some changes in how things are done, as determined by the state.

The good news is that the state has committed to a supply of rapid testing kits free of charge for the foreseeable future. This good news does come with some changes, so please read them carefully below.

New method of ordering test kits

The State has provided us with the form that must be submitted for approval via email. We have pre-filled our information in the form for your convenience. Test kits will by default be delivered directly to the school. Please make sure you make arrangements for the package of test kits to be received to avoid having them be sent back. If you prefer that the packages be sent to us, we have a different version of the form that indicates this preference. Please reach out to Martin at m@telopoint.com to get started.

Minimum lead time extended to 2 weeks

We have been told that State approval of each order typically takes 1-2 weeks, which is longer than it takes for the City currently. Please keep that in mind when scheduling tests; the minimum lead time for scheduling a new visit must now be 2 weeks to ensure that test kits arrive before the visit date. We have also been told that you may request for one month's worth of tests at a time to streamline the ordering process.
